All over the world girls are at risk because of their young age and their gender. They are at risk of being denied the opportunity to access a secondary education, to gain the skills and training they need to work and to exercise control over their sexual and reproductive health. They are at risk of being married before the age of 18. They are at risk of violence and harassment in every space they occupy, including their home, their school, their refugee camp and their city.
The Plan International Bangladesh Country Strategy 2020-2030 examines the root causes of gender inequality in the country and the signi_cant opportunities and barriers to our programme work, and identies three impact areas in which to focus to achieve our vision. Its speci_c impact goal is: "By 2030, children and youth will be recognised as leaders of change in gender norms and make informed decisions about their lives".
Plan International Bangladesh will support children and youth, especially girls and young women, throughout their journey from childhood to adulthood, facilitating their stated wish to become active citizens and contribute to the economy of the country. Over the decade, their role in a greater social movement will be extended, supported and acclaimed, enabling them to step out of proscribed gender roles and break the poverty chain.
Our people are smart. They`re rigorous thinkers. They relish challenges and work with others to come up with creative solutions to the toughest challenges that children and young people face. They are confident and curious, always open to learning. That`s how - in a fast-changing world - our team consistently comes up with great programmes.
