A fire broke out in the basement of a luxury hotel in the port city on Tuesday morning. No casualties have been reported. Chattogram fire service officials told UNB that the fire started at about 6:45am at the Peninsula Chittagong and was contained within an hour and a half. Shamim Ahasan Chowdhury, deputy director of the fire service, said, ‘Five fire tenders were pressed into service to bring the blaze under control.’
