Vaccination drastically reduces the chances of death
Bangladesh’s vaccination rollout has not been without its share of problems, but overall, our management of this daunting task has been commendable. We have secured a healthy supply from various sources, and the health care professionals on the ground have done a terrific job in delivering the jabs, given the logistical constraints that exist in this country.
Nevertheless, scepticism and misinformation have held us back to a large degree, with many still unwilling to take the vaccine due to largely unfounded fears. Even among educated groups of the population, there are many who refuse to believe in what the science says, preferring to indulge in conspiracy theories regarding vaccination. Others lack a clear idea of what a vaccine is in the first place. These beliefs have held us back from progress on ending this pandemic.
