At least two students were killed and 35 others injured in clashes between the activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir (ICS) and Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) on Chittagong University (CU) campus on Wednesday.
Police have arrested three activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir in possession of five firearms, including an AK-47 rifle, from the port city and Brahmanbaria.
Despite repeated warnings from the Awami League high-ups and different agencies, some student leaders, said to be Islami Chhatra Shibir men, have been making attempts to occupy key posts in Dhaka University committee.
Sporadic clashes broke out between police and activists of the Islami Chhatra Shibir, student wing of the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, in the Paltan area.
