Sacked GP men staging demo
The terminated Grameenphone employees along with their family members are staging a symbolic mass hunger strike in front of GP headquarters in the city on Tuesday protesting the ongoing illegal termination.

Dozens of terminated officials and staffers of Grameenphone and their family members started their hunger strike at about 12 noon.
Meanwhile, they placed their six-point demands during the demo.
The demands includes—immediate suspension of the illegal termination process, re-announcement of annual increments, paying adequate compensations to the terminated employees, paying 5 percent income profit along with other dues, bringing all responsible under trial and paying compensation for completing all risky tusks.
The agitating employees said tougher programme will be announced if the authority ignores our demands.
Sources said over 300 employees of Grameenphone (GP) have lost their job so far in the ongoing retrenchment process.
However, the authority said some 217 employees have lost their job so far. Of the employees, 41 were women including three pregnant staffs.
