Shakib Khan files GD, seeks security

Dhallywood actor Shakib Khan has lodged general diary over an alleged assault on May 6 during the biennial election of Bangladesh’s Film Artists’ Association.

Shakib’s co-actors Zayed Khan and Saimon Sadik were among the accused in the complaint that was filed with Tejgaon Industrial Police Station last night.

In the complaint, Shakib said he went to Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) around 1:30am on that night as the election result of the association was not published till then.

“As the incumbent president, I have the right to see why the result was being delayed so I went to BFDC,” he said in the complaint.

“I noticed a man in red T-shirt was holding a pistol along with some other miscreants with machetes in their hands,” his statement read as per the diary. “They attacked me when I asked why some outsiders were there with arms.”

Shakib said he managed to escape with assistance of police and his personal bodyguards.

He also said in the complaint that he is apprehensive that he might be implicated in ‘false cases’. He also alleged that actor Zayed Khan is the mastermind of the attack on him.

Sub-inspector Md Monirul Islam, of Tejgaon Industrial Police Station, told The Daily Star that Shakib filed the general diary around 8:30pm seeking security of his life and they have accepted it.

Meanwhile, Shakib went to Lab Aid Hospital in the city for routine checkup and his doctor told him to stay at the hospital for a day, Bangla daily Prothom Alo adds.

He is likely to return today.
