The BRTA has threatened to revoke route permits of errant bus owners who provided “Seating” or “Gate Lock” services in Dhaka but have kept their vehicles off the streets since the government cracked down on the illegal services.
Bangladesh Road Transport Authority Secretary Muhammad Showkat Ali told the Dhaka Tribune Monday afternoon.
He said: “The route permits of the bus companies will be cancelled if they do not bring out their vehicles during the drive.”
Replying to a query about the number of such buses, the secretary said: “We are yet to prepare the list of such buses. We are working on it.”
The BRTA is conducting drives since Sunday to stop private buses from providing illegal “Seating” or “Gate Lock” services.
The magistrates of BRTA are conducting the drives at Asad Gate, Agargaon, Tejgaon, Jatrabari and Dhaka airport areas.
