Bangladesh Nationalist Party’s senior leader Gayeshwar Chandra Roy on Saturday claimed that Bangladesh might be victimised by other countries if defence deal between Bangladesh and India is signed during prime minister Sheikh Hasina’s visit to New Delhi.
‘Signing military agreement against whose? Which country remains in border areas that can attack Bangladesh? India needs military deal, because as they (India) surrounds us in three sides. Similarly they (India) are surrounded by various counties from all sides,’ Gayeshwar said.
‘Chances are there of happening anything between them (India) and those countries. In that case, if such deal is signed with Bangladesh, enemies of India would also become our enemies due to the deal’ The BNP standing committee member said.
Gayeshwar was addressing a discussion at Dhaka Reporters’ Unity organised by Juba JAGPA to mark its 26th founding anniversary The BNP outspoken leader said Bangladesh has no need for any military deal.
