A helicopter carrying Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has made an emergency landing in Sirajganj’s Tarash upazila due to heavy fog.
The incident took place around 10am Monday when the minster was flying to Naogaon to join a programme in commemoration of Awami League’s former general secretary Abdul Jalil.
Party’s Joint General Secretary Jahangir Kabir Nanak, who was also in the helicopter, confirmed the matter to local Awami League leaders.
He said it was difficult to fly in the heavy foggy and cloud. Therefore, the helicopter had to land at Indigenous Khirshin village in the upazila.
“We resumed the journey after 40 minutes when the weather became normal,” Jahangir Kabir added.
Abdul Kudus, chairman of Deshugram Union said “After being informed about the incident, I along with Sirajganj upazila Chairman Abdul Haque rushed to the spot.”
“Within awhile a lot of people including local Awami League leaders also went to meet the minster there,” he added.
