Lambasting Hefazat-e-Islam for demanding removal of a statue representing justice in front of the Supreme Court building in Dhaka, Rashed Khan Menon today said that if the demand is met, it would be an extreme outcome of communalism and against the spirit of the Liberation War in the country.
After the Gulshan Café attack, the government has taken effective steps to curb militancy from the country. But militancy cannot be controlled fully due to the emergence of Hefazat-e-Islam, the civil aviation and tourism minister said.
“Fundamentalism is being spread again in the country,” alleged Menon after inaugurating the 7th international convention of Jubo Moitree, at Shaheed Minar in Dhaka today.
