Police today barred Bangla daily Amar Desh acting editor Mahmudur Rahman from holding a programme at Dhaka’s Spectra Convention Centre.
The programme titled, ‘Border killing: Resposibility of State’ was arranged by the People’s Movement for Democracy, a pro-BNP platform led by Mahmudur.
Attended by around a hundred people, the programme was slated to start at 9:30am. Around 10:30am, police walked in and said the programme had to be stopped as per instructions from higher authorities, Bashir Ahmed, who handles media affairs for this platform, said.
The pro-BNP intellectuals lingered on the spot for a while before they left, our correspondent reports from the spot.
