Bangladeshi actress Jaya Ahsan and an India-Bangladesh joint venture Shankhachil have been nominated in different categories at the Bangla Filmfare Awards, which is officially known as Filmfare Awards East in India.
Jaya got nomination in the best actor in a leading role (female) category for her acting in the Indian Bangla film Eagle-er Chokh.
Goutam Ghose’s film Shankhachil, which featured both Indian and Bangladeshi actors, got nominations in four categories including best film, best director, best actor in a leading role (male) and best supporting role (female).
Indian actor Prosenjit Chatterjee got nomination in best actor in a leading role (male) category while another Indian actress Sanjhbati got nomination in best supporting role (female) category.
For the award, Jaya will have to compete with Indian actresses like Gargi Roy Choudhary, Paoli Dam, Raima Sen, Rituparna Sengupta and Swastika Mukherjee.
Shankhachil will have to compete with Kolkata-based films such as Cinemawala, Double Feluda, Eagoler Chokh, Praktan and Shaheb Bibi Golaam.
The award giving ceremony will be held at the Science City in Kolkata on February 25.
For their acting in India-Bangladesh joint venture films, four more Dhallywood actors competed for the nominations of the awards.
They were Shakib Khan (Shikari), Arefin Shuvo (Niyoti), Kusum Sikdar (Shankhachil) and Nusrat Faria (Hero 420).
