The cabinet today approved the draft of a proposal for filling the vacant posts of freedom fighters’ quota in the 35th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) by general candidates staying top on the national merit list.
The approval was given at the regular weekly meeting of the cabinet held at Bangladesh Secretariat with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.
Cabinet Secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam briefed reporters after the meeting.
He said general candidates from the 35th BCS merit list will be given appointment if qualified candidates are not found for the freedom fighters’ quota.
The cabinet secretary also said the cabinet finalised a proposal for one time relaxation of provision for preserving the vacant posts of the priority quotas for the 36th BCS.
He said the vacant preserved posts for freedom fighters, women, and small ethnic communities in the 35th BCS would be filled up by adding concerned cadres of the 36th BCS.
