Bangladesh Nationalist Party will give its reaction over the newly constituted Election Commission tonight.
BNP chairperson’s press secretary Maruf Kamal Khan told New Age on Monday night said BNP would give reaction over newly formed Election Commission Tuesday night after meeting with leaders of the BNP-led alliance.
Meanwhile, BNP standing committee sat at a meeting on Monday night to discuss various issues including EC.
The meeting presided over by BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia at her Gulshan office around 9:30 pm that continued till filing this report at 11:00pm.
Earlier, around 10:00pm BNP chairperson press wing member Shamsuddin Dider told reporters that BNP secretary general would give reaction at BNP central office at 12 noon today. Later he informed that it was deferred.
Cabinet secretary Mohanmad Shafiul Alam on Monday night announced the new EC led by KM Nurul Huda.
Earlier on Monday noon BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi at a news briefing asked the search committee to make public the list of names the committee recommended for reconstitute the EC.
Rizvi said it was the demand of all that the search committee should disclose the list to the nation so that it could be understood if the committee worked neutrally or at the ruling party’s behest.
The BNP leader claimed that people feared that the way the search committee was formed with ‘Awami League-minded people’ would make it impossible to find out neutral people rising above partisan ideology.
