Customs intelligence officials today seized 27 pieces of gold which were hidden inside a belt buckle and metal frame of a travel bag of an inbound Bangladeshi migrant worker at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.
The current market price of the 27 pieces of gold weighing 370 grammes is around Tk 17 lakh.
Md Masud, a migrant restaurant worker in Malaysia, was detained on charge of carrying the smuggled gold, said Moinul Khan, director general of Customs Intelligence, Bangladesh.
Masud, hailing from Kawarchar in Barisal, came in Dhaka boarding a flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines BG 087 around 8:00am.
