Bibartan Jessore is now visiting India to stage three shows of its latest theatre production titled ‘Matbring’.
Before living Jessore for Kolkata on Friday, troupe’s general secretary Atiquzzaman Roni said, ‘We will stage the play at Rabindra Sangskrit Mancha at Nabadwip on Saturday.
On the following day, we will stage the play in Murshidabad.’ Matbring will be staged in Bahrampur on February 1, Roni said. Written by Sadhana Ahmed and directed by Jahangirnagar University’s drama and dramatics department teacher Yusuf Hasan Arko, Matbring features oppression on mandi community through the tragic love story of a young couple.
‘Though it is a romantic play, it delivers a very strong message-- how powerless people are being tortured by influential quarters,’ said, Sanoar Alam Khan Dulu, president of Bibartan Jessore. The play was premiered at Jessore Shilpakala Academy on September 9, 2016. It also participated at the National Theatre Festival held in Dhaka in last year.
