Shibir men held with ‘manual on silent killing’

Police have recovered the copies of a training manual by prominent martial art teacher Master Hei Long on silent killing methods during a drive at a mess of radical student group Islami Chhatra Shibir in Rajshahi city.

The detained are Monirul Islam of Shimrail area and Russell Ahmed Rashed. Details about Rashed could not be known.

Rajshahi Metropolitan Police’s spokesperson Senior Assistant Commissioner Iftekhayer Alam confirmed it to the Dhaka Tribune.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of police raided a house behind the kitchen market in the city’s Boalia area on Sunday afternoon. Three copies of the book were recovered along with some other radical books and two hand grenades during the drive from the house.

The book titled “21 Techniques of Silent Killing” outlines the methods used by trained assassins to execute their victims with cold efficiency. The spike, knife and nunchaku are used to impale or strangle victims in a minimum amount of time with a maximum chance for lethal results.

According to law enforcers, some Shibir members in Rajshahi have engaged in secret killings carried out by banned militant groups, especially the JMB, in the last couple of years across the country.

Many members of the radical student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami were arrested or made accused in the murder of teachers and students at Rajshahi University.
