Filmmaker Mostofa Sarwar Farooki has revealed plans for his next film based on the terror attack on Holey Artisan Bakery, the popular upscale eatery in Dhaka’s Gulshan area.
“Holy Bakery will be a one-shot film. It will be intimate and intense,” Farooki told cinema portal Variety.com in Busan, South Korea, where he is in the jury of the short film competition section of Busan International Film Festival.
The film will be based on the July 1 incident at the Holey Artisan Bakery where armed gunmen held up customers for 12 hours and killed 20 of them mostly foreigners. Two police officers and five gunmen were also killed during a shootout and later in an operation conducted by joint forces.
A cast will be set in place in early 2017 and principal photography will begin in March and Farooki’s production outfit Chabial will produce with other entities joining shortly, reports Variety quoting Farooki.
