Two law enforcers, who were injured during a raid in Dhaka’s Mirpur area last night, have been shifted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of Square Hospital after undergoing surgery.

Doctors conducted the surgery of Officer-in-Charge of Rupnagar Police Station Syed Shahid Alam and OC (Investigation) Md Shaheen Fakir last night, Bangla daily Prothom Alo reports quoting Humayun Kabir, a staff of the hospital’s customer services.

Shahid suffered stab wounds to his back and Shaheen was shot in thigh during the raid that left one militant dead.

Meanwhile, the body of “Neo JMB” commander Murad alias Jahangir Alam alias Omar was taken to Dhaka Medical College morgue around 2:30am for autopsy, Jasim Uddin Mollah, additional deputy commissioner (Mirpur division) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, told The Daily Star.

Morgue sources said the autopsy would be conducted this afternoon, Sohel Mahmud, assistant professor of forensic and medicine department at DMCH.

“Murad was the military commander of Neo JMB and he trained the Gulshan and Sholakia attackers,” Monirul Islam, chief of the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of DMP said yesterday.

Murad used to frequent the militant hideout at Paikpara in Narayanganj where “Neo JMB” coordinator Tamim Ahmed Chowdhury had been staying.

Tamim along with his associates Tousif Hossain and Fazle Rabbi were killed during a raid at the hideout on August 27.

Soon after the Narayanganj raid, police came to know about Murad's rented house -- a fifth-floor apartment of a six-storey building on Road 33 in Rupnagar of Mirpur.
