34 companies asked to withdraw drugs from markets

The High Court today ordered the authrorities concerned to stop marketing sub standard drugs of 20 and antibiotics of 14 pharmaceutical companies and withdraw their products from the markets.

Earlier, the Supreme Court directed the government to stop production of  drugs and antibiotics of the 34 companies on charge of manufacturing sub-standard drugs.

The High Court bench of Justice Salma Masud Chowdhury and Justice Kazi Md Ejarul Haque Akondo passed today’s order following a petition filed by Human Rights and Peace for Bangladesh.

Human Rights and Peace for Bangladesh submitted the petition saying that the medicines of the 34 companies are still now reportedly in the market although the High Court on June 7 asked the authorities to stop production of the companies.

On June 15, the Appellate Division upheld the High Court order.
