Tipaimukh Dam: BNP calls hartal in Sylhet for Dec 1
The opposition BNP has called for a hartal on December 1 in Sylhet district to protest the government’s ‘inaction’ on the deal signed by Indian government for constructing Tipaimukh Dam.

M Ilias Ali, BNP president of Sylhet district unit, declared the dawn-to-dusk hartal at a press conference in the city on Tuesday, reports our Sylhet correspondent.
He demanded immediate cancellation of the project saying it would cause serious havoc in northeastern region in Bangladesh.
India recently signed the agreement to construct the Tipaimukh Dam and a hydroelectric project on the Borak river in Manipur of north-eastern India.
India had earlier promised that it would not take any steps regarding the dam that could harm Bangladesh.
