Quality management in power system operation stressed
Speakers at a seminar here on Monday stressed the need for introducing quality management for the operation of power system and urged people to judiciously use electricity and water.

Institute of Diploma Engineers Bangladesh (IDEB) organised the seminar titled ‘Power Quality Management and Building Code in saving power’ at its Council Hall.
Speaking as the chief guest, State Minister for Housing and Public Works Advocate Abdul Mannan Khan said there will be no wastage of water and electricity if people sensibly use that.
He said the government has already taken various initiatives to bring loadshedding of electricity to a tolerable level and will take more steps to resolve electricity crisis through setting up coal-fired power plants.
FBBCI president AK Azad thanked the IDEB for organising the seminar on power saving, and urged all to work together for economic development of the country.
BGMEA president Md Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin said and garment manufacturers and exporters have to run their businesses amid short supply of power as its generation is not increasing against the growing demand.
IDEB member Engineer Md Nadiruzzaman presented the keynote paper on the topic.
In his paper, Nadiruzzaman said a huge amount of electricity can be saved through its quality management, which may also help resolve electrical disturbances, increases the lasting of electrical instruments and reduce electricity wastage.
He said the government should bring a change in the Building Code of 1996 to avoid electrical problems in apartments and buildings, and suggested using residual current and surge protective devices to reduce electricity wastage.
IDEB general secretary Md Shamsur Rahman, among others, addressed the seminar presided over by IDEB President AKMA Hamid.
