APJ Kalam for empowerment of local govt
Visiting ex-president of India Dr APJ Abdul Kalam said that local government’s empowerment is very necessary.

“I am vary glad to get chance to visit Bangladesh. Bangladesh and India will bring progress through the development of jute products in stead of plastic goods,” said APJ Abdul Kalam.
The former President of India made the remarks while addressing at a programme of the 33rd anniversary of Centre on Integrated Rural Development for Asia and the Pacific (CIRDAP) at Chameli House in the city.
APJ Kalam also urged all to build a corruption free world.
Among others, Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister and chairman of CIRDAP Syed Ashraful Islam, State Minister for LGRD Jahangir Kabir Nanok and secretary of LGRD ministry Mihir Kanti Majumder were present at the programme.
