Driver of Journo Bibhash’s killer bus arrested

DB police on Sunday arrested the driver of the bus that killed journalist Bibhash from Suchipara village in Shahrasti upazila in Chandpur district early Sunday.

The arrestee was identified as Mofizul Islam, 38, son of Ahmed Pradhan of Mohammadpur village of Matlab upazila of Chandpur.

Tipped-off, a team of the Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested Mofizul Islam from his sister’s house in Shahrasti upazila at around 1:00am, Masudur Rahman, additional deputy commissioner of Media and Community Service of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, told the reporters at a press briefing this afternoon .

Bibhas, crime reporter of English daily The Independent, was killed in Dhanmondi when a bus hit his motorcycle on Friday.

A case was filed with Dhanmondi Police Station on the same day accusing bus driver Mofizul and his helper Sajal.

Police sought 10 days remand for interrogation.
