Special measures to check traffic jam on highways during Ramadan
Police have taken special measures including motorcycle patrolling to check nagging traffic congestion across the country, particularly on the highways, during the holy month of Ramadan to ease immense sufferings of the passengers.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), district and highway police have been asked to work in coordination with each other to strengthen traffic management system in the DMP areas and elsewhere in the country.
"All out efforts will be made to make the highways free from traffic jam. To make the efforts perfect high officials of police will be deployed to deal with the problem," Inspector General of Police (IGP) Hassan Mahmud Khandker said.
As part of the measures motorcycle patrolling will be placed from Chandra of Gazipur to Hatbhanga, Aminbazar to Savar, Sayedabad Bus Terminal to Shimrail crossing of Narayanganj district.
Police Headquarters has imposed a ban on stopping any vehicle on highways without any specific allegation or information and asked to take special measures to check traffic jam in toll plaza of different bridges while collecting tolls.
It also asked to special security measures to use alternative Brahmanbaria-Comilla-Cantonment road if Dhaka-Chittagong Highway experiences traffic jam and urged the authorities concerned to keep ferry ready as alternative measure if Meghna and Daudkandi bridges become unfit for traffic movements in coordination of police.
The police supers have been asked to take special measures to introduce separate routes for the vehicles in and out at Paturia, Daulotdia and Mawa ferry ghats while highway and district police have been asked to take special measures at all the entry points of Dhaka, Kanchpur, Gouripur, Sitakunda, Joydebpur crossing, Aricha, Daulatdia and Mawa to check nagging traffic jam in these areas.
Police Headquarters has asked to take measures to set up 'special awareness signboard' at different accident-prone areas to check fatal accidents.
