PM to open Tarakandi-Bangabandhu Bridge Rail Link Saturday
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate Tarakandi-Bangabandhu Bridge East Rail Link on Saturday to fulfill the long- cherished dream of the people of the northern region and six districts of greater Mymensingh area.

After inaugurating the rail link project on the east side of the Bangabandhu Bridge, the Prime Minister will address a public rally organised by the Tangail district Awami League at the ground adjacent to Bangabandhu bridge east rail station.
Sheikh Hasina will then leave for Adv Motiur Rahman Talukder rail station in Jamalpur by a special train. On her rail journey to Jamalpur, she will address two roadside meetings at Bhuapur rail station and Hemnagar rail station.
In Jamalpur, the Prime Minister will also address another public rally at ‘Gono Maidan’ in Sarishabari upazila organised by district unit of Awami League.
After attending the rally, she will return to the capital by a helicopter.
The 37 km Tarakandi-Jamuna Bridge railway link project was undertaken in 1999 during the tenure of the previous Awami League government.
The rail link project constructed at Tk 216 crore will help quick transportation of agricultural and industrial products of Jamalpur and Sherpur districts to Dhaka and Chittagong.
The railroad has been constructed to link the country's eastern region with the northern region through Jamalpur and Mymensingh.
