Get ready to take future leadership: PM to children
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday urged the children to prepare themselves as worthy citizens to take the responsibility of the country in the future.

“One day someone from you will be the Prime Minister or many will be in good posts and positions. So, get ready to take the responsibility,” she said while addressing a function marking the distribution of Shapla Cub Award at her official residence Gonobhaban.
The Prime Minister asked the cub scouts to prepare to participate in nation-building activities.
Hasina advised them to be aware of the bad impacts of social crimes and educate their friends and classmates about it as the scouts are the future of the nation.
She asked the authorities concerned to introduce ‘Scouting’ in all educational institutions and expedite the ‘Scout’ movement to build the children, juveniles, and youths as honest, disciplined, self-confident and ideal citizens of the country.
The Prime Minister praised the scouts for their cooperation with the government in tackling the aftermath of various natural disasters in the country as well as creating social awareness. “I hope your service-oriented future activities will be intensified further,” she said.
Hasina asked them to plant more and more saplings to protect the country’s ecological balance as well as combat the adverse impacts of global climate change.
She said the government has brought positive changes in teaching methods giving priority to flourishing the creative minds of the children in educational institutions.
Sheikh Hasina mentioned that the literacy rate has marked a marked rise alongside improvement in education as the government is providing free textbooks and stipends to meritorious and poor students, and formed an Education Assistance Trust Fund.
She informed the scope and areas of acquiring knowledge in information technology by the students has been expanded by introducing computer labs and multimedia classrooms in the country’s educational institutes.
The premier said the opportunities of higher education have widened as the government established new science and technology, agriculture, textile and medical universities.
Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr Afsarul Ameen, President of National Scout MA Karim, National Commissioner Abul Kalam Azad, National Commissioner Program Mezbahuddin Ahmed.
Earlier, she distributed Shapla Cub Award among 20 cubs out of 251 award wining cubs.
She also inaugurated the Cub Carnival at a simple ceremony on Gonobhaban lawn.
