Girl on girl action has nothing to do with men
Last Sunday, I was sitting at my scriptwriter friend's home getting high on sangrias and getting my fill on film gossip. The television was on, and her brother

Jassi was watching re-runs of Seinfeld. It was the episode where George meets his girlfriend and he is shocked to discover that she is now dating a girl.
So, Jassi turns to us and asks, "Does that happen? After a few bad relationships, does a girl turn to another girl, and go off men?" I didn't know whether to laugh at him or slap him for asking a stupid question. But the sangrias were taking effect, and I said, "Yes." Just when a big grin spread across his face, I said, "In porn movies, not in the real world." Then I chucked a cushion at him and asked him if he realised how stupid his theory sounded. If he had a few heartbreaks, would he start thinking about dating a man? He grimaced at the thought and then said it was different for men, because they aren't emotional or sensitive and they get over break-ups easily. I hated to be the one to break the news to him, but he was so far away from the truth, he was on another planet. Besides, women get over relationships sooner than guys do. At least, the ones I know.
We talk to girlfriends, bitch about the ex, eat ice- cream, listen to soppy music, cry and are done with it. I don't know of a single case where a girl started dating another girl to get back at her guy, or to avoid heartbreak. It is the fantasy of a straight writer that made it into the show. Most heterosexual guys get off at the thought of two women together. They even imagine that we have sleepovers with our friends where we wear sexy clothes, indulge in pillow fights and finally tumble into each other.
One guy I dated asked me if I had ever been attracted to a woman. I told him I can appreciate a sexy woman if I see one, but I don't feel attracted to her. Guys don't want to hear that. He kept asking me which of my friends I found hot and what if I had too much to drink and was in the mood. "What if you were marooned on an island for years and there were just the two of you?" was the next question. I could see that he wanted me to cater to his fantasy desperately, so after a point I just told him what he wanted to hear.
