Marking the 39th death anniversary of our National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, Star Melodies of The Daily Star is organising a musical event “Pubali Poboney Banshi Bajey” at 6:30pm on August 31 at its AS Mahmud Hall. Nazrul Sangeet singers Salahuddin Ahmed, Sharmin Sathi Islam, Anindita Chowdhury and Nishat Ahmed Zishan are the featured artistes of the event.

Bangladesh participates in Awa Odori Dance Festival in Japan

A 16 member dance team participated in the Awa Odori Festival on August 13 and 14 in Tokushima, Japan. The dance form dates back to 1587 and now the festival is the seasonal delight of Tokushima when the entire city resounds with music and dance. The Bangladesh team was led by noted cultural personality, Ramendu Majumdar and the choreography was done by Kabirul Islam Ratan.
