Asha performs live in Dhaka

The queen of South Asian music Asha Bhosle captured not only the voice of Bollywood but also its soul as she performed live in the Army Stadium in Dhaka on Friday night.

Asha, who came on stage about 8:30pm, began her performance with the all-time hit number Pyar Karne Wale from the 1980 film Shaan.

The cheering audience gave her a warm welcome as she kept singing Raat Baaki Baat Baaki Hona Hai Jo, Yeh Mera Dil, Chura Liya Hai Tumne Jo Dil Ko, Di Lafzon Ki Hai Yeh Zindagani, O Mere Sona Re Sona Re and many other numbers.

Singer Runa Laila, who sang Dama Dam Mast Qalandar with Asha on the stage, welcomed her on behalf of Bangladesh by presenting her with a bouquet.

On a note of appreciation for the audience in Bangladesh, Asha promised that she would visit Bangladesh whenever Runa would request her to. It was her second live concert in Dhaka after 1998.

Popular Indian singer Sudesh Bhosle treated the audience to a number of Bollywood tunes, old and contemporary, such as Meri Mehbub, Yeh Jo Mohabbat Hai, Inteha Ho Gayi Intezaar Ki, Meri Makhna Meri Soniye, Shava Shava and others.
A band of 20 instrumentalists performed in the concert.
