On the occasion of Nazrul’s birth anniversary
Kazi Nazrul Islam always raised a firm voice against fascism and oppression through his poems and literary works.
Today marks the 112th birth anniversary of the National Poet. Different government and cultural organisations will be holding special programmes marking the occasion.
One of the main events will be held in Trishal, Mymensingh. The three-day event begins from today.
President Zillur Rahman will address the programme at Trishal as the chief guest with Information and Cultural Affairs Minister Abul Kalam Azad in the chair.
Grand daughters of the National Poet KhilKhil Kazi and Misti Kazi will also be present on the occasion.
Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, Bangla Academy, Nazrul Institute and National Museum will also arrange various programmes to mark the day.
This year the government has allocated Tk 25 lakh for celebrating the 112th birth anniversary of the poet.
A day-long Robi-Channel i Nazrul Mela will be held at Channel i office in Tejgaon. This is the sixth Nazrul Mela arranged by Channel i on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Kazi Nazrul Islam.
The programme will feature cultural performances by leading Nazrul artistes of the country. The organisers will honour a leading Nazrul artiste with a lifetime achievement award at the programme.
Special stalls will be set up at the venue for the visitors at the fair premises. The fair will also feature a painting workshop where leading artists of the country will draw paintings on the theme Nazrul.
Today TV channels will air special programmes on the occasion. Channel i will telecast the ‘Robi-Channel i Nazrulmela’ live at 11:10am, single episode TV play Tumi More Bhliachho featuring Chanchal Chowdhury and Abul Hayat as cast will be telecast at 7:50pm on Channel i.
ATN Bangla will air telefilm Jhilmil at 8:00pm. The tele-film is directed by Abul Hayat, Documentary programme Bihongo Katha will be telecast at 10:45pm on ATN Bangla.
Bangla Vision will telecast single episode TV play Begum at 9:05pm. The play features Sohana Saba and Shajal as its cast. Also Bangla Vision will air special programme Boner Papia 8:15pm.
Special programme Droher Kobi Premer Kobi will be telecast at 6:10pm on ntv. The channel will also air single episode TV play Kajari at 9:00pm. The play features Sumaiya Shimu and Abul Hayat in lead roles.
