A delegation of the United States led by Assistant Secretary of State for Diplomatic Security Gregory B Starr arrived here on Tuesday to discuss security issues with Bangladesh, reports the UNB.
The delegation are on a two day visit and will meet with high civil and security officials to discuss ways for ensuring a safe and secure environment for the US diplomats in Bangladesh, said a diplomatic source.
The US Assistant Secretary, now in charge of the security and law enforcement arm of the US Department of State is likely to meet State Minister M Shahriar Alam and senior officials at the Home Ministry, Bangladesh Police, civil society representatives and other stakeholders, said the source.
The US delegation led by Starr include special agents, diplomatic couriers, security engineering officers, security technical specialists, general service staff, and other specialists.
Earlier, Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Nisha Desai Biswal visited Dhaka on May 4-5 following the killing of USAID staff Xulhaz Mannan and his friend Mahbub Tonoy.
