Mashiur disengaged from Padma project: Muhith
Hours after the World Bank's hint to revive its loan for the Padma bridge project, Finance Minister AMA Muhith on Thursday said Mashiur Rahman would not be involved in any project relating to the bridge.
On query, Muhith also told journalists that he would comment on whether the WB will review its loan cancellation, only after the global lender gives its statement on the issue.
The minister made the comments while replying to reporters’ query in a seminar at the Cirdap auditorium in the capital, organised by Bangladesh Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BWCCI).
Muhith’s comments came in a context when a finance ministry source said that the WB is going to revive its $1.2 billion loan for the Padma bridge project.
The breakthrough comes after the government complied with the WB prerequisite to remove two key officials, Syed Abul Hossain and send on leave Mashiur Rahman, for their alleged involvement in the scam that had led to cancellation of the loan in June.
