Demo compels GP to declare leave (Video)

In the face of the demonstration by the Grameenphone staff, the largest mobile operator of the country on Sunday declared a general leave for today.

Its all began in the morning, when a group of current and recently terminated staff of the Grameenphone started the demonstration in front of their head office in Bashundhara residential area of the capital.

The demonstrators under the banner of Grameenphone Employees' Association also barred the employees to enter the office, forcing the authorities to declare a leave for today.

Earlier on July 4, the committee was formed in order to protest the ongoing termination process in the company.

Terming the ongoing termination process as illegal, the employees distributed a leaflet to press home their five-point demand on the same day.

Meanwhile, they demanded trial of those who are involved with the illegal process.

Communication officials of the GP however said all the officials have been asked to work from home by online.
