CEO of EXPOPRO, Md. Mamunur Rahman has presented the keynote paper on “Business Opportunities in Power Generation and Infrastructure Development in Bangladesh” at a seminar at MECC Menara MATRADE, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. In response to an invitation from BMCCI, he spoke in the seminar organized jointly with MATRADE, titled ‘Business Opportunities in Bangladesh’, where over 100 representatives from different business organizations, entrepreneurs, media and Malaysia & Bangladesh government officials were present.
Moreover, the seminar was made possible through the collaboration between Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) and Bangladesh-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BMCCI) and it has been intended to provide the attendees with the information on business prospect, potential and opportunities that are available in Bangladesh. The Seminar was organized prior to a three-day single-country trade fair, titled ‘Showcase Malaysia-2013’, to be held in Dhaka, Bangladesh from May 23-25, 2013 aiming to boost Malaysian investment in Bangladesh and make trade ties between the countries more stronger.
Malaysia’s Trade with Bangladesh has been on an upward trend with an average annual growth of 28.8% for the past decade. In 2012, Malaysia’s total trade with Bangladesh was valued at US$1.57 billion. Although trade was in Malaysia’s favor, it is encouraging to note that Malaysia’s imports from Bangladesh increased by more than 80% to US$73.9 million in 2012 as compared to the previous year. These figures indicate that businesses from both countries are looking forward to have more business transactions with each other.
Bangladesh-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BMCCI) in collaboration with High Commission of Malaysia in Bangladesh, Bangladesh High Commission in Malaysia, Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) and Malaysia South-South Association (MASSA) will be arranged the trade fair. The Showcase Malaysia 2013 will be the third single-country exhibition for Malaysia in Bangladesh. This event is expected to further strengthen and expand the existing collaboration and partnership in trade and investment between Malaysia and Bangladesh.
